History on Japanese Mini Trucks |
|
In the early '60's the first Japanese Mini-Trucks hit the roads of Japan and where exported to Asian and European country's in truck and van configuration's. The Mini-Trucks grew quickly in popularity because of there ability to get into tight spaces, fuel economy and they can carry heavy loads. The first Mini-Trucks where manufactured with 360CC engine until 1976 when the Japanese government allowed them to increase there engine size to 550CC. The 550CC engine was the standard until 1990 when the manufactures where allowed to increase the engine size to 660 which is still used to this day. Even though the engine sizes are the same each manufacture manufacture’s there own engine’s so they are not interchangeable. The only Mini-Trucks that have interchangeable parts are Suzuki and Mazda as Mazda is a private label Suzuki. The Japanese Mini-Trucks can achieve fuel economy of 40mpg or more and can carry around 1000 lbs. in the bed and provide a safe and comfortable ride. Japanese Mini-Trucks are hugely popular in the USA because they are built for reliability and to keep you warm and dry in even the most punishing environments for thousands less then any of the UTV’s that are currently available in the US market. Japanese Mini-Trucks are available with optional AC, and dump beds.
